The Hair and Makeup That Wowed the Crowds at Coachella 2025

Coachella Style Collage

While there’s always been a quintessential festival look – think boho attire, glitter, face paint, and braids – Coachella 2025 took things to a whole new level. Icons like Lady Gaga, Ciara, and Missy Elliott delivered bold, unforgettable beauty moments that raised the bar.

Here are our favourite standout looks from this year’s festival.

Big BIG Hair

Hair and makeup are key when you're performing for a massive crowd, and at Coachella this year, big, expressive hair took center stage.

  • Megan Thee Stallion made an entrance with a voluminous cherry-red curly wig that moved effortlessly as she performed.
  • She later brought out Ciara for a nostalgic performance of Goodies, and Ciara matched the energy with a beautifully layered, textured blonde wig full of bold curls and dimension.

Seeing Red

The red hair trend was alive and thriving.

  • Missy Elliott showcased five different costume and hair changes throughout her performance. One standout was a dramatic copper red ponytail with brushed-out curls that delivered serious volume and impact.

Elevated Nail Art

Nail art became a performance piece of its own.

  • Lisa stunned with several nail styles during her set, but the most memorable were her grey animal-inspired nails with rhinestone details on the thumbs. Created by nail artist Juan Alvear, the look was dubbed “performance claws” — and they lived up to the name.

The Power of Wigs

Lady Gaga turned Coachella into a high-concept theatrical showcase.

  • She debuted what fans can expect from her upcoming Mayhem Tour with an elaborate stage production that featured eight outfit changes and a series of dramatic wigs.
  • Gaga opened with her signature sleek black bob before switching to a striking platinum blonde braided style. Her makeup remained consistent throughout, with bleached brows and a rich, deep red lip crafted by makeup artist Sarah Tanno.

Mix It Up

South African singer Tyla brought something fresh and stylish to her Coachella debut.

  • Her look featured voluminous chocolate-toned curls on top, paired with a few sleek face-framing braids. The hairstyle was a fresh twist on classic festival braids and was perfectly complemented by her bold, grungy eyeliner.

Glitter, but Make it Chunky

Glitter and festivals are a classic combo but this year’s glitter took on a bolder, chunkier form.

  • For her performance, Lisa wore cascading chunky glitter and stones from her eyes, balanced by a sharply contoured lip.
  • Muni Long also embraced the sparkle with a more structured 3D glitter eye look, placing rhinestones along a shimmering gold cut crease.

A Return to Individuality

Girl group XG made their Coachella debut on the Sahara stage, and their approach to hair and makeup was a standout.

  • Cocona wore her bleached buzzcut with striking graphic eyeliner.
  • Jurin embraced the cherry red trend with a Y2K-inspired spikey ponytail, bleached brows, and bold blue eyeshadow.
  • Hinata delivered a head-turning look with grey-toned aqua double ponytails, a blunt fringe, and fluttery doll-like lashes.
