Coming up rose gold
The trend for rose gold on our faces, hair and nails first emerged late 2015, most likely as a fresh option to the ‘usual’ festive season looks of reds and yellow golds. But now it’s back to take over the summer months.Hair:
Just search for the hashtag #rosegoldhair on Instagram, and you’ll see thousands of stylists and wannabe colourists showing off their efforts to capture this truly beautiful tone. Rose gold is pink, but not as we know it; it’s been infused with a golden sheen, which takes the tone from pastel to something altogether warmer. One of the reasons it’s going to be so huge this season is because it’s a suits-all shade; rose gold can work just as well on a tiny afro teamed with dark skin, as a long braided look against the palest white skin. It can work on a short, choppy crop, or a mid-length wavy ombre. While some clients might look ill if they take on the rainbow or denim blue hair colour trend, rose gold will work on everyone. Needless to say, it’s a look that must be maintained with regular treatments at the salon.

Face:
Rose gold has often been used as a highlighter when it comes to makeup trends, but now pretty much any brand is letting us wear the shade on our eyes, lips and cheeks. Again, it’s a great look for any and every skin tone; a universal way to wear the look is to create a smoky eye with your favourite antique rose gold shadow, and use a touch of chocolate in the crease. Finish it off with a generous slick of black eyeliner and you’ve got a super glam look for a night out. It can work just as well on a bride; just ditch the liner and instead give them a gorgeous and glossy rose gold pout.

Nails:
When it comes to nails, there are no limits for rose gold; mix up complimentary textures, such as glitter with matte or a sheer shine with a block colour and play around with reverse French manicures and negative space patterns. Take the glam factor up a notch by adding embellishment by way of Swarovski crystals for a stunning bridal manicure.
