Hot right now - The ponytail
Too hot to think about an intricate updo right now? Never fear, the iconic ponytail is still here.Poker straight
Perhaps one for the cooler evenings, a poker straight ponytail requires work, and healthy-looking hair! As ends will be exposed, this is a look that shows up any imperfections. But for clients who have untameable hair, or don’t have the length the look requires, you can always fake it of course! Fake ponytails and hairpieces are huge right now, offering oomph to less than voluminous locks, and completely transforming celebs such as Alesha Dixon and Jennifer Lopez.

Tousled and tied
It’s common practice to cover the elastic used to secure a ponytail with a lock of hair when the style is straight, but it’s also a great look for curly and wavy ponies. Clients with thicker, wavier hair will benefit from a high up ponytail as it will allow them to stay just that little bit cooler during the warmer months, and it also means they won’t have sweaty necks!

Low and loose
Again, this is a great look for clients with evening events; a low-slung ponytail looks effortless but sophisticated. Whatever the hair texture, this style can be worn as loose as possible, and works best with a side parting.

Detailed
The ponytail can be plaited and twisted in multiple ways for clients who like to stand out from the crowd – you can even weave in ribbons and flowers for an unusual bridal style. To finish the look you can keep the sides seriously slick, or leave them wispy and undone or even add a floral crown.
