Discover Microblading

WHAT IS MICROBLADING?

Micropigmentation, also known as 'facial micro-pigmentation' and 'eyebrow embroidery', is a process where medical grade pigments are inserted into the dermal [top] layers of the skin. Unlike tattooing, which uses ink and is inserted much deeper into the skin – making it permanent – this pigment gradually fades over time.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The pigment is gently applied to the upper layer of the skin using a blade that has been broken down into a number of super fine needles. To soften the sensation, a topical anaesthetic cream is applied so the client will be as comfortable as possible. The process takes approximately 90 minutes to two hours. Immediately after the treatment, the client should expect the area to be 30-50 percent darker than the colour originally chosen. This is absolutely normal and the colour will lighten within the first three to four days post-treatment, as the skin heals. The client will then need a follow-up appointment, which is included in the price, between four to six weeks after the initial treatment. This visit will refine and perfect the finished look of the procedure, as some areas of the skin do not hold the pigment as well as others. We also recommend a 'colour boost' approximately 12 months after the initial procedure, to keep the appearance fresh.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF MICROBLADING?

The benefits are endless! TIME-SAVING - ideal for working mums who need to get up early, running after their kids and left with no time for themselves. COST-EFFECTIVE - with eyebrows being the 'must-have' accessory, the average cost for HD brows is £30 every four to six weeks. LIFESTYLE - ideal for those who workout, swim, play sports, have oily skin or are prone to hot flushes, Microblading means no more worrying about makeup sweating off.

CONFIDENCE - not only does Microblading mean perfect makeup for those with unsteady hands or failing eyesight, it can be a massive confidence-booster for those going through chemotherapy or suffering with alopecia.

DOES IT HURT?

A topical anaesthetic cream is applied to numb the area before and during the procedure. Each person is different; some feel a slight stinging or prickling sensation, some feel nothing at all, others feel pain and yet others have fallen asleep during the procedure. It is important that the client is as comfortable as possible, so the anaesthetic cream can be reapplied as necessary.

WHAT COULD IT MEAN FOR A BEAUTY THERAPISTS EARNINGS?

Depending on the area or city you’re based in, on average, I would say around £295, which includes the four to six-week top-up. The client will also need a colour boost to keep it fresh, approximately 12 months after the first procedure. A therapist could charge around £100-£150 within 12 months and £150-£200 within 18 months.
